ASUS have announced a flurry of new PCs at this years CES 2016, but the one piece of hardware we’re most impressed with is this, a VR Compatible Windows machine, at a fraction of the size.
Coming in weighing just 5 pounds may not seem like much an achievement for those not in the know about what kind of hardware is required for VR, but seriously we’re talking a powerful PC here. Just look at these specs
- Latest gen Intel Core i5 Kaby Lake (unconfirmed Mhz at this moment)
- 8GB base RAM
- 512GB SSD standard
- 4 USB 3.1 Ports
- 2 USB 2.0 Ports
- 2 HDMI Ports
- DisplayPort with support for NVIDIA G-Sync
- NVIDIA GTX 1060 Graphics, offering 3GB of Dedicated Graphics!
As you can see this is an incredibly powerful machine, and what makes it even better is it’s priced at only $799, which for the specifications inside is incredible.
Not that you ever would, but if you even try to compare to what you get from the second spec Apple Mac Mini … well, it’s clearly night and day where the value and full-on performance lies.
Similar to the Mac Mini, this is a BYODKAM device, so you will need to ‘bring your own display keyboard and mouse’, but it’s likely you already have those and what a machine you’ve got to pair to them! The machine would even be perfect as a TV PC, all the games will run with that incredible spec list, and standard such as HDMI to run any resolution perfectly.
The VivoPC X goes on sale in March 2017, so keep a look out for it.
