Whilst design has never been something we’ve given Samsung much credit for over the years, the new Gear S2 Smartwatch may get that slight exception. With a beautiful curvature and build, almost unheard of in Samsung design, the Gear S2 has a certain quirk about it, a certain cheekiness, and we like it for that.
That quirkiness and cheek continues in the Gear S2 software, which whilst isn’t running on Google’s Android Wear operating system but Samsung’s own Tizen OS, still has it’s own way around the majority of every day Smartwatch functionality, most notedly the built in NFC for the upcoming Samsung Pay service is an added bonus this will have above other Smartwatches.
As shown above the design options for the Gear S2 certainly vary and have a range of customisable options, from a Classic look, as Samsung calls it, with a darker design and leather black strap, to a more premium look and feel of the model on the left.
The only thing that keeps us scratching our heads about this, and probably Google’s, is that this could have been Samsung’s best Android Wear watch by a long margin, especially as we all know Tizen sure ain’t gonna win Samsung Smartwatch customers.
