As a surprising turn of events, UK website, Unlocked-Mobiles, have posted their SIM Free prices for the new HTC’s range of Windows Phone 8 devices announced this week, and the prices are pretty good, which may give them an added boost at competing against Nokia’s range when they hit stores. (Nokia UK prices still tba)
The HTC 8S (right image), HTCs lower end phone, which comes with a 1 Ghz dual core processor, 4 Gb internal storage with microSD expandable storage, a 5 megapixel camera with 4 inch WVGA screen and no front-facing camera will retail for a pretty awesome £224.98 (inc Vat) at launch. If you just want a no-frills Windows Phone 8 phone this is almost certainly the one to go for.
Yet the awesomeness doesn’t stop there as the HTC 8X (left image), HTC’s high end flagship phone, is also going for pretty cheap. Unlocked-Mobiles will be retailing theirs for £398.98 (inc Vat), which is a pretty good introductory price and likely a hundred pound less than the Nokia Lumia 920 will retail for (again Nokia’s UK prices are still tbc, but we’re etching our bets). That handset has a super-sharp 4.3 inch 720p screen, with a higher PPI than the 920 which already ousted the iPhones Retina Displays PPI, 16 GB of storage, but sadly no expandable storage, a 1.5 Ghz dual-core processor with a great 8 megapixel rear and super-wide angle lens 2.1 megapixel front facing camera.
The devices are expected to be released in November with the HTC 8x in early November and 8S in mid-November.
What do you think of the prices? Has this changed your mind about considering HTC Windows Phone 8 devices. And remember, all Windows Phone 8 devices will have Nokia Maps and Nokia Drive standard, we’re still awaiting Nokia UK prices yet, but these are really impressive prices.
