RKUK Music – End of an Era

RKUK Media is a media company that are continuing to aim higher in the media concept of the companies name. To do this RKUK has and intends to make more partnerships with other networks in the field to produce entertainment for the RKUK Media website.

RKUK Media has recently had a massive track record of having a great collection of the latest and greatest in music videos, but that has unfortunately had to change recently with action taken at this years RKUK Developers Conference.

RKUK Media CEO Ben Hanson announced that music on RKUK Media was becoming “irrelevant through competition”, and that the company needed to find “its new reason for being”.

Music videos currently on RKUK Media, including those hosted from Selection DVDs 1 – 97 will remain on RKUK Media for archive purposes, as well the videos uploaded on the newly introduced ‘B4SelDVDs’ service.

RKUK Media has also announced that despite getting rid of music videos in the future, it still has plans to upload music videos from the Selection VHS to RKUK Media in the coming future.

“Music is definitely not leaving RKUK Media though”, Ben was clear to point out. Services such as the home page section for the UK Number 1 Single and Album will still remain as well as many album and single reviews, the only difference will be linking out to third party video sites such as VEVO and YouTube.

What will be music video replaced by?

The question was put to RKUK CEO Ben Hanson and he responded with;

“You can’t replace music, its one of the many foundations that will always remain in your life, and we’re not replacing or removing music from our site at all. We regularly look at whats going off around us as a company and have found that much better services exist offering music videos than what we have, they’re far from perfect (referring to VEVO) and aren’t completely ready yet, but beat the services we had. It was mainly that which made us make this decision. We love music, Ilove music, but its very expensive and we weren’t seeing any profit, and, we we’re even seeing a decline. We will be bringing back old services and working harder on other existing ones on RKUK Media to make the site more engaging and exciting, its a bold and daring move, but we’re gonna risk it!”

The RKUK Media website will begin getting a revamp in response to the new services coming to the website in the coming weeks.

Introducing Artist Quickfind!

RKUK Media is a media company that are continuing to aim higher in the media concept of the companies name. To do this RKUK has and intends to make more partnerships with other networks in the field to produce entertainment for the RKUK Media website.

Quickfind is a great way of visually seeing what music videos are available on RKUK Media, and by using browser command CTRL+F (or CMD+F) you can type to find more. But we’re taking that a step further with Artist QuickFind.

Artist QuickFind will be essentially the same as regular QuickFind but for Artists. Each Artist will be separated by alphabetical order, and clicking their name will link to their latest released music video.
In a statement RKUK CEO said “We think that Artist QuickFind is going to be a brilliant way for people to find the songs we’ve got on RKUK Media. Our library is always growing y’know, and we’re now bringing in some old classics which many people may not even realise are on RKUK Media, this is where Artist QuickFind will shine, for example, look we do have A-ha songs, y’know stuff like that”.

Artist QuickFind is expected to launch February 2011.

Introducing B4SelectionDVDs & Artist QuickFind

RKUK Media is a media company that are continuing to aim higher in the media concept of the companies name. To do this RKUK has and intends to make more partnerships with other networks in the field to produce entertainment for the RKUK Media website.

Dispite recently reaching an incredible 2,000 music videos on RKUK Media last month (not including 100 Christmas Songs arriving 20th Nov) we’re still not convinced that we’ve truly delivered the true music experience that everyone deserves. What we mean by that is simple, Selection DVDs.

May 2005 – Present. Great, but what about the rest?
RKUK Media began collecting music videos for Selection DVDs in May 2005, which are now all available online, but the obvious niggle many people have on this is older music, in fact even songs in earlier 2005 aren’t on RKUK Media. Well, we’re happy to finally announce a fix to this problem.

B4SelectionDVDs - The Fix!
A few week back we announced on our FaceBook page that we would be adding a collection of classic bands to RKUK Media in some way shape or form, but as you all know, some artists and bands, for example Blur and Queen that were mentioned, have no songs at all currently on Selection DVDs so what about them? Well, the same treatment.
Basically, B4SelectionDVDs will be the name of a new channel on RKUK Media including music videos for artists and bands that never made it to Selection DVDs. We will be also allowing member requests and FaceBook requests for new artists or bands to be added to the list on RKUK Media, isn’t that awesome.

Addition of artists to the channel will be rather random, but we are constantly releasing new features on RKUK Media to make it easier to find music on the site so you shouldn’t have much trouble. If you requested a particular artist or band, then you will be informed when they are on.
We will also be adding a new feature to Quickfind called QFArtist (QuickFind Artist). Essentially it will show all artists that have one or more songs on RKUK Media.

Summary
RKUK Media will soon announce a new channel on RKUK Media called B4SelectionDVDs that will be a collection of music prior to the May 2005 starting time of Selection DVDs which has driven the collection of music videos on RKUK Media thus far. The music videos featured will, at first, be random, but RKUK Media will accept requests via members on RKUK Media to FaceBook, Twitter and beyond requests. Along with this RKUK Media is soon to launch QuickFind Artist, so you can visibly see which artists and bands are on RKUK Media.
Artist QuickFind will come in 2011. B4SelectonDVDs will begin in December.

RKUK Tops 2,000 songs!

RKUK Media is a media company that are continuing to aim higher in the media concept of the companies name. To do this RKUK has and intends to make more partnerships with other networks in the field to produce entertainment for the RKUK Media website.

RKUK Media today with the latest music topped over 2,000 music videos through the Selection DVDs service. RKUK Media started Selection DVDs in May 2005 and has continued to provide the latest in music videos and now online.

RKUK Media is set to completely revamp the RKUK Media website from November after the Music Month period where all music videos on RKUK Media enter the Artist Profile stage, essentially meaning each music video has its own page allowing users to comment, rate, share and more, how bout that! RKUK Media’s CEO said in a statement “I’m very happy with the progress of adding our amazing music collection to Artist Profile, and am happy to say at this rate we’ll definitely have all Selection DVDs on Artist Profile by the end of October, even the upcoming one!”.

Future Music on RKUK Media – QuickFind Replacement and more!

RKUK Media is a media company that are continuing to aim higher in the media concept of the companies name. To do this RKUK has and intends to make more partnerships with other networks in the field to produce entertainment for the RKUK Media website.

RKUK Media are currently updating all Selection DVDs on RKUK Media by adding them to the ‘Videos’ section of RKUK Media. The biggest advantage of doing this is that every single song can be found using a simple to use search box.

QuickFind

QuickFind is currently a page on RKUK Media that shows every song on RKUK Media, which allow you to find each song by using the built in Find feature in all major browsers by using the keyboard shortcut (CTRL+F on Windows, or CMD+F on Macs) then finding all songs with that name, artist etc. But this is pretty hard to use, so we will be replacing it with the simplest possible way.
The replacement is what we mentioned, just simply use the Search box from the VIdeos section. You can do this already with current songs on Artist Profile.

When will this happen

As soon as all songs are available on Artist Profile (estimated) at the end of October, we will remove QuickFind with what can only be described as the easiest way to find videos on RKUK Media. You can also use the search box in the top right of RKUK Media, although using the search box from the Videos section will restrict the search just for Videos.

RKUK Media faces Music Copyright Changes

RKUK Media is a media company that are continuing to aim higher in the media concept of the companies name. To do this RKUK has and intends to make more partnerships with other networks in the field to produce entertainment for the RKUK Media website.

RKUK Media have an incredible collection of musical services online, including audio services such as MP3ME as well as probably the biggest service on the entire website, Selection DVDs. All these services are possible thanks to agreements with the record companies and the artists themselves.

Requested Changes
A few record companies have requested a few changes to our current music system. We respect their decision and we will make the additionally changes they have requested. The changes requested will effect MP3ME and Selection DVDs services only on RKUK Media. No other services will be effected by this.

Selection DVDs
Currently RKUK host Selection DVDs in packages, as they were on DVDs until 2007. You can basically click Selection DVDs in the menu, look through them and play multiple tracks on them and download them in you choose.
We have been request to remove download functionality from all Selection DVDs and that is taking place right now. However their is an upside on this, in which we will be introducing a service we weren’t going to be introducing for a while in which is Artist Profile. RKUK Media are going to remove all Selection DVD pages and replace them with Profiles for each one, you may have seen a few already made (we’re doing it from 1 – now). The replacement?
Well, the replacement is great. Basically all music videos will be added to our “videos” section on RKUK Media separately meaning you can watch, comment, rate and even embed videos on your own site. However unlike our previous plans, downloading obviously won’t be available.
MP3ME
Unfortunately MP3ME doesn’t have the same happy ending. MP3ME, the service that allows you to have a listen to albums through RKUK Media for free will be completely removed from RKUK Media with the exception of Protocol, who are unsigned. The profiles created for the artists will remain but just for news (RSS feed based).

RKUK Media becomes rkukmedia.co.uk

RKUK Media are happy to announce that, as you have probably noticed, RKUK Media has become rkukmedia.co.uk which in our opinion is quite a bloody good thing.

One added feature to this is if you use the old URL which was rkukmedia.ning.com it will still redirect to the new URL, so do what you like really, but hey it takes less time to type rkukmedia.co.uk so whats the point.
Anyway, so that’s that, RKUKMedia.co.uk

RKUK Media and Dr Who Production

RKUK Media is a media company that are continuing to aim higher in the media concept of the companies name. To do this RKUK has and intends to make more partnerships with other networks in the field to produce entertainment for the RKUK Media website.

RKUK Media itself was created in 1997 and arrived online in 2005 and, whilst the site is only owned by Ben Hanson, the site has many partners helping projects take place such as RKUK Videos etc.

RKUK Media recently became involved in a production managed by Ben Hunter, who has been involved before with RKUK Media to create 12 of the 58 videos created for RKUK Entertainment. However things have recently turned to an unpleasant form when Rob Crossley, who was also involved with the production and a big contributor to RKUK Entertainment quit the production based on Copyright Suspicions with what the productions intentions were, this led RKUK Media to investigate the production and this is what we have found.

RKUK Media’s Involvement
Whilst hearing multiple stories of what our involvement was in this production we are just going to lay down the law of what we did. RKUK Media agreed to distribute the content through RKUK Media’s online services, notably our YouTube, Dailymotion, Vimeo and (free) iTunes and join our current RKUK Entertainment videos under our name. The production itself is managed by Ben Hunter and not RKUK Media.

Problem!
RKUK Media have heard that the production is intended to get to a profitable level, performances of the production, money made through the production etc, this was not what RKUK Media agreed to in the beginning of the production but we have publicly announced that RKUK Media will remain involved in the production ONLY if proof of Copyright permission from the BBC is given, this has failed to arrive in the time we requested.

Copyright Evidence
Dr Who is a major thing for the BBC and is a precious asset to their collection of productions for BBC Television and obviously is protected by vigorous Copyright law. RKUK Media have analysed these and have noted two important mentions from BBCs website which has automatically terminated RKUK Media’s full involvement in this production.

This is the basis of what would be taking place, and this what BBC has to say;
I am doing a school project/case study on Doctor Who, can I use copyright material?
If the material is only going to be used within your work and available only to you or an examiner, then yes, you may. If the work is to be displayed, performed or distributed in any way, for commercial or non-commercial purposes, then this would be a breach of copyright. (Source: BBC’s Dr Who Copyright Website)

For these reasons and more we are as we have cancelled all involvement in the production, it is now purely Ben Hunter’s decision to take the next step. RKUK Media and Ben Hanson are now out of the production.
Message to those still involved in the production.
RKUK Media is quitting all involvement in this production before it is finished to avoid major Copyright fraud from the BBC as the productions intentions will definitely lead to this. We would recommend yourself to leave the production as well unless Ben Hunter and others involved with the production change their intentions in this production. The only legal outcome from doing this production would be to put it on YouTube full stop, by performing it, showing it publicly, distributing it (on DVD, download at any cost) is against the law and by being involved in the production yourself you could be linked and receive a fine and time in prison for being involved in a production under the knowledge it is against the law.
RKUK Media’s Ben Hanson made this statement;
“It’s a shame that I’ve had to pull out of the production as it has actually been going rather well, but based on what they are intending to do at the end of the day is against the law and by RKUK Media been involved its all going to come crashing down to us and we can’t have that happening”.
